Select between internet ban or Sales tax: Kashmir Inc tells JK Govt

Srinagar/April,27: Expressing serious concern over the internet ban and subsequent closure of social media platform in Kashmir, the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation  (KTMF) said the government should decide between lawless gags or letting businessmen submit their sales  tax details.
President of the KTMF Haji Mr Muhammad Yasin Khan, who also heads the  Kashmir Traders Ecnomic Allience (KTEA) in a statement here this evening said in this part of the year the business community has to submit the quarterly Sales  tax returns and other similar details to concerned quarters mainly online.
But, he said, given the internet gag we are unable to do so. And wherever the internet is working the speed is so slow that we are unable to upload any files on the concerned websites.
He said now that the bans are being imposed by the PDP led government it must get the date of submission of returns extended accordingly because in the given circumstances we’re unable to work in accordance with the rules and onus of any such act will lie on the government, Mr Khan said.
Terming the ban on social media as “lawless and senseless approach”, Mr Khan said the government move will lead to major loss for the businessmen whose work was dependant on social media.
“Many of our youth had been running their business ventures through social media but this government wants Kashmir to be doomed,” Mr Khan said.
He dared the government to impose same curbs in Jammu as well where saffron forces have allegedely unleashed a reign of terror on Muslims. “Why Jammu region has been exempted from his ban where provocative anti Muslim sentiment is being fuelled through internet and social media?”
Mr Khan said given the edgy situation in Kashmir and government failure to address the grievances of the student community the PDP-BJP alliance had lost every moral right to be in power.
