KEA demands ban on Gaw Rakshaks in J&K

Srinagar, Apr 23: Taking a serious note of the attack on five members of a nomad family including a nine year old girl allegedly by self-styled Gaw Rakshaks in Reasi district of Jammu province, the Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) Chairman Haji Muhammad Yasin has urged Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to immediately ban such gangs which are hell bent at communal polarization of the state.
Mr Khan who also heads the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) in a statement here this afternoon alleged that history of these so called Gaw Rakshaks is that they have been killing the innocent people of the a particular community. And these so called vigilantes who work at the behest of saffron forces have one agenda to terrorize the particular community. This Gunda Raaj will not be tolerated in our state and if the state government fails to ban these gangs, onus of public reaction will lie on the government itself.”
Stating that people of Kashmir respect every religion and have never hurt sentiments of any community, Mr Khan alleged that the Gaw Rakshaks are nothing but a gang of saffron forces. “Why didn’t such vigilantes exist or terrorize people till three years ago?” he asked.
Asking the Chief Minister who is also the Home Minister to nip the evil in the bud, Mr Khan said state cannot be taken hostage at the cost of goons.
“They have started with attack on one family including a small girl, this hate may turn into epidemic tomorrow. So it’s better to get rid of the menace by banning it right now.”
Mr Khan asked the rights groups and civil society to come forward for the cause of humanity which is jeopardized by such gangs who called themselves vigilantes.
He expressed solidarity with the victimized nomad family and appealed for communal harmony.
