Srinagar, Apr 21: Police in Rajasthan has arrested two youths over the incident of a scuffle with few Kashmiri students of Mewar University in the state and filed an FIR against them.
IGP Rajasthan, Anand Srivastava, told KNS that the police have thoroughly investigated into the incident and they have found no pre-planned conspiracy, politics or intention about the incident.
“Few Kashmiri students were in the market and two youths from Rajasthan had some argument and scuffle with them. Police immediately rushed to the spot to intervene,” Srivastava told KNS.
“There was no visual injury to any Kashmiri students; we immediately took action and arrested the two youth and filed FIR into the incident,” he said.
Chairperson of the university, Ashok Kumar Gadiya told KNS that the varsity complained to the police that arrested the outsider youth who had entered into a scuffle with the students.
“Two students had received minor injuries and they were treated in the hospital. We have talked to the students and assured safety to all Kashmiri students. There is no need to worry. It is our responsibility to safeguard the students,” he said.
As per reports, protests had erupted in Mewar University in Chittorgarh after some Kashmiri students were beaten up after outsiders got to know they are Kashmiri.
While the students claimed that locals in Gangrar village beat 10 of them, the police said it was a minor scuffle involving three students.
Following the reports, J&K Police contacted Rajasthan Police to take cognisance of the incident.
