Srinagar, February 18, CNS: Sikh bodies including Sikh Intellectuals Circle J&K, Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), International Sikh Federation, Sikh Students Federation and Sikh Youths of J&K (SYJK) Tuesday strongly condemned the merciless beating of students and continuous civilian killings in Kashmir and said security forces have become authoritarian and now they have let loose at reign of terror in our educational institutions.
Senior Sikh leaders of these organizations including S. Jaspal Singh Mangal, S. Narinder Singh Khalsa, Bhai Gurdev Singh, S. Amanjeet Singh Kmr, Bhai Ram Singh, S. Ranjeet Singh, S. Davinder Singh, S. Surinder Singh, S. Manmeet Singh, S. Manjeet Singh & S. Inder Singh after an emergency meeting in Jammu today disclosed the press that we have decided to submit joint memorandum to UNO, OIC, Amnesty International and other Human Rights organizations about the present situation in Kashmir and for the protection of Human Rights in Kashmir. Sikh leaders said ruthless beating of our students and particularly tying of one youth as a Human shield is the worst kind of war crime and we are surprised that why judiciary and so called democracy of India is silent about all such brutalities in Kashmir.
“The acute public anger spilling out on the streets in the form of peaceful protest does not only stem from political aspirations of the people but also due to continues repressive policies, crushing of civil liberties and gross violation of human rights, which in fact is a consequence of the unresolved Kashmir dispute. Its seems state administration has given free hand to men in uniform but all such brutalities cannot suppress the people’s uprising and aspiration for implementation of UN resolutions in Kashmir and use of brutal force and repression will further complicate the situation in Kashmir.”
“For stable and prosperous South-Asia International community should mediate between India, Pakistan & people of Jammu and Kashmir on the lingering issue of Kashmir for its early and durable resolution. Kashmir issue is the only cause of conflict between nuclear nations India and Pakistan on which many wars have resulted and today in Indian occupied Kashmir there is complete unrest and large scale human rights violations due to presence of large scale security forces and draconian laws.” (CNS)
