5 of the 11 accused of attacking CRPFmen arrested

Srinagar/ April,15: Five of the 11 youth accused of attacking CRPF personnel in central Kashmir district of Badgam have been arrested by police while an FIR has been lodged in the death of a youth.
However, police has yet to register a case in connection with a video showing a youth being used as human shield by Army in Badgam district during bypoll in Srinagar constituency on April 9.
Director General (DG) of Jammu and Kashmir police Dr S P Vaid said a case has been registered against 11 miscreants who were found allegedly slapping and thrashing CRPF personnel in Badgam have been identified.
He said five of them have been arrested while a massive hunt has been launched to arrest others, including main culprit. Three of the arrested persons have been booked while questioning of two was going on, he said adding the accused will be punished as per law of the land.
Lauding the CRPF who did not retaliated when attacked by these miscreants, DGP said the security personnel could have fired in self defence and killed several people. But it is the training of the CRPF they did not retaliated.
About another video which shows a CRPF jawan directly firing in the head during stone pelting in Badgam, DGP said” Since death has taken place, police has already registered a FIR in police station Chadoora and the matter is under investigation.
He said if anybody was found exceeding the powers, he will have to face the law of the land.
About the video in which army was seen a youth being used as human shield, Dr Vaid said” I have seen the video”. But, he said, has not talked to anybody about this incident so far. The authenticity of the video has yet to be established and it is matte of investigation.
About Army ordering an inquiry into the incident, he said Army has well established law and if anybody is found involved he will be punished by the Army.
A defence ministry spokesman said that Army has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and working president of the main opposition National Conference (NC) Omar Abdullah have expressed concern over the video.
