Srinagar/April,7: Warm and woolen clothes are once again out in Kashmir valley, where day chill has intensified from the last three days due to snowfall and incessant rain while the night temperature witnessed some improvement though it was still below normal.
However, sun Friday played hide and seen in plains in the afternoon though intermittent rain also continued, resulting in chilly weather conditions.
Some of the road, particularly in Srinagar city, remained waterlogged for the third day though authorities have pressed into service fire tenders and pumps to drain out the water.
Meanwhile, border town of Kargil was the coldest place in the region at minus 4.2 degree, followed by Leh, where mercury settled at minus 0.8 degree.
A Met department spokesperson told  that light to moderate rain or thundershowers would occur during the next 24 hours at few places in the state. However, he said the weather will start to improve from tomorrow onwards.
He said sky will be partly cloudy in Leh, where maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 8 degree and minus 1 degree, respectively.
World famous ski resort of Gulmarg, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir, received about 2 feet of fresh snow since Wednesday, it witnessed an improvement of about 3 degree from Thursday this week and settled at 0.4 degree, which is slightly above normal. The upper reaches in the ski resort, including Kongdori, Khilanmarg and Affarwat, the highest skiing point connected by Cable Cabe, also received moderate to heavy snowfall in the last three days.
Meanwhile, authorities have pressed into service sophisticated machines and men to put through Gulmarg-Tangmarg road, which is buried under over 2 feet of fresh snow since Wednesday.
“Right now it is not snowing, but they the weather is chilly in Gulmarg. But, snowfall in April was an unexpected surprise for the tourists. They are having a time of their lives,” a hotelier told  over the phone.
People in the summer capital, Srinagar woke up to yet another chilly and damp morning though as the day progressed sun played hide and seek in the afternoon.
Despite an improvement of about 4 degree from Thursday this week due to overcast conditions, the night temperature settled 2 degree below normal in Srinagar, which received 19.5 mm of rain during the last 24 hours. Against zero degree recorded Thursday this week, the night temperature in the summer capital was 3.8 degree. Thursday this week, the day temperature recorded in Srinagar was 15 degree below normal.
