Advisor Farooq Khan inspects COVID-19 wellness centres established in Samba, Kathua

JAMMU: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan today reiterated that the quarantine centers would be further augmented so that people lodged at the facilities would get proper care and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Advisor made the remarks during his inspection at several quarantine centers in the districts of Samba and Kathua to take the stock of measures taken by the respective district administrations to contain the disease.

At Samba, the Advisor visited Radha Swami Ashram, Vijaypur and held an extensive inspection of the ongoing quarantine process, sample collection procedure, dispatching of people belonging to other districts and status of overall administrative setup.

Advisor Khan was accompanied by Commissioner Secretary Jal Shakti Dept (PHE), Ajeet Kumar Sahu, who is also the Nodal Officer for management of inter-state passengers and supplies; Deputy Commissioner, Samba Rohit Khajuria and other senior officials.

On the occasion, Advisor Khan also oversaw the dispatching of 1300 people belonging to other districts which included Udhampur, Reasi and Kulgam from the quarantine facility.

The Advisor was informed that it is being ensured that people follow social distancing norms besides use of masks, sanitizers and sample collection process.

Advisor Khan also inspected the process of registration, a declaration form where details like travel history including place of origin and destination, medical health conditions, native district and other details are filled, sample collection through special designed COVID-19 kiosks and sending them to testing labs for results.

On the occasion, the Advisor enquired from the people quarantined at the facility about availability of food, water, beddings, medicines and other essential requirements while assuring them that all possible assistance would be extended in a hassle free manner.

It was informed that since April 28, reporting of other district persons have started at the quarantine facility, of which 18,142 persons have been sent to their respective district after proper registration and segregation, besides the sampling of individuals was also started from 3rd May and 1656 individuals’ sample have been collected till date.

Advisor khan appreciated the steps taken by district administration Samba in following the proper guidelines and SOPs issued from time-to-time while handling the people at the facility.

He assured that facilities at the quarantine centers would be further augmented for the safety and care of people as it is utmost priority of the government.

Later Advisor Khan also held a meeting with all the district officers to review the measures taken by the district administration during the pandemic.

At Kathua, the Advisor visited Lakhanpur and reviewed the facilities provided to the people at quarantine centre.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma; Deputy Commissioner Kathua, O P Sharma and other concerned accompanied the Advisor during the tour.

The Advisor was briefed about the various medical facilities put in place for quarantine people, sample collection process, registration etc.

On the Occasion, Advisor Khan also inaugurated an open Sarai for the people who are being evacuated from different parts of country.

Advisor Khan complimented the district administration for the arrangements put in place for the people at quarantine centers across the district.

The Advisor asked the authorities to quarantine the people arriving from various parts of country in their home districts so that people would face little troubles.

Advisor Khan visited several quarantine centers in the district and interacted with the people lodged there for quarantine.

On the occasion, Advisor Khan assured full support from the government to the people lodged at quarantine centers besides their regular health check-ups and medical needs.
