Distt admin Kulgam takes slew of measures to check COVID-19 spread

Kulgam : District administration Kulgam has taken a number of measures to curb the transmission of deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) and strict restrictions have been placed across the district in this regard.
To facilitate people, the district administration has also introduced various measures so that people do not suffer during the lockdown. Home delivery of essentials items was started in the district and 24×7 control room was also established to provide prompt assistance to people.
The district administration had in advance distributed ration for the months of April and May. Under National Food Security Act and Jammu and Kashmir Food Entitlement Scheme 41347 quintals and 8000 quintals of ration respectively were distributed and process has been initiated to lift ration for month of June and July.
The administration also distributed free ration under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojna wherein 12828 quintals of ration was distributed among 57347 families comprising 2,56,566 beneficiaries/souls while strictly following all the Standard Operating Procedures and maintaining proper social distance.
As many as 2000 free food kits/packets have also been distributed among the migrant labourers and needy people during the lockdown so far.
Moreover, Labour Department has disbursed an amount of Rs 84,70,000 among active workers at Rs.1000 each through DBT mode after the imposition of lockdown.
To contain the spread of COVID-19, all the designated red zones of the district were provided masks and PHH and AAY households are being provided masks free of cost. Near about 2.5 lakh masks have been distributed among the people so far. Moreover, intensified sanitation cum fumigation drives are being conducted across the district regularly.
The administration is also facilitating the people with medical emergency movement passes and in other cases of exigency.
Notably, the District Magistrate Showkat Aijaz Bhat has already ordered restrictions in the district till May 03, 2020.Yet another
