Life remains crippled as lockdown enters 29th day

Srinagar : As the positive cases crossed 400 mark in Jammu and Kashmir the lockdown continued to remain in force across the Union Territory on Wednesday in wake of the deadly Coronavirus outbreak.
All the markets as well as the educational institutions including Schools, Colleges, Universities and Coaching centres remained closed in persuasion of the government to prevent the virus from spreading.
So far, over 400 persons in Jammu and Kashmir have been tested positive while five among them have also died. Over 70 patients have also been recovered and have been discharged from the government hospitals in the Union Territory.
Moreover, amid continuous lockdown for 29th straight day, witnesses said police and paramilitary troopers remain deployed on the roads to enforce the lockdown, who had also erected concertina wires at many places, thus halting the vehicular as well as the pedestrians’ movement.
Besides, Jammu and Kashmir police continued to book people for violating the government’s prohibitory orders issued under section 144 CrPC.
Police in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district has arrested 22 violators and seized 20 vehicles for defying prohibitory orders, officials said, adding that 67 cases have so far been for defying prohibitory orders.
In Police Station Qazigund, 21 persons were arrested and seized 20 vehicles for defying the prohibitory orders, officials said, adding that two separate FIRs 102 and 103/2020 under section 188, 269 IPC have been registered in this regard.
Officials said that in Police Station D H Pora a violator was arrested and a case under FIR number 47/2020 under section 188, 269, IPC has been registered against him.
At least 20 vehicles have been seized in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said, adding that ten four wheelers, ten two wheelers were seized by the police for defying the government orders.
Officials said that six vehicles were also challened by Sopore Police in different areas of Police District Sopore for violating curfew orders
