Bandipora: There seems to be no respite from Covid-19 for Bandipora district of northern Kashmir as five more new positive cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total number of cases in the district to 80.
With fresh five cases, Bandipora district has surpassed Srinagar that till now was topping the list of Kashmir districts having highest cases. In Srinagar, the total number of positive cases are 78. Officials told news agency KNO, that five new cases were reported from Gund-Dechina, Guroora Qail-Muqam and Pathkoot today in Bandipora district. “Total number of cases in the district now stands at 80 of which 68 are active while 11 patients have recovered so far. A patient has also died due to Covid-19 in Gund-Jahengeer village of Hajin,” they said.
The officials said that out of 80 cases, 60 have been reported from Hajin tehsil while 20 cases have been reported from Bandipora block so far. “Till now eleven Covid-19 positive patients have recovered so and all of them are from Hajin tehsil. A death has also been reported from Hajin tehsil,” the officials said.
Village Dachina and Gundi Qaiser of district of this have been under stringed lockdown for the past 20 days. Both the villages have been severely hit by COVID-19 as several cases have been reported from these village. The number are cases has been rapidly increased in the district which has created panic among the people of its adjoining areas
The complaint of the people of Gundi Qaiser village which authorities designated as red zone is that they are not being provided with the necessary supplies during the lockdown. The people of the village are unhappy with attitude of local authority. Majority of the people are having unavailability of necessary stocks.
They told KNO that they have been dying with both COVID-19 and hunger, and demanded the immediate supply of necessary stocks in the village.
Meanwhile, in an another incident, Three persons booked and put under quarantine in Bandipora as they had been confidently brought back by the relatives from the Naidkhai village which has been already designated as red zone. The three person were booked when rapid response forces and police got the inputs about their confidential visit from Naidkhai to ward no 5 Bandipora town during last night.
Meanwhile, the restrictions on the movement and assembly of people in Bandipora continued. Police official said tight curbs were in the district in view of the surge in the number of positive cases—(KNO)
