Srinagar: In the wake of Ramadan, Enforcement wing of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Food Safety and Standards (FS&S) and Legal Metrology Department (LMD) Wednesday conducted special joint market checking in various areas of Srinagar.
The Joint inspection team headed by Deputy Director FCS&CA Mohammad Akbar and Deputy Controller LMD Tanveer Ahmad representative from Food Safety and Standards visited Maharaja Bazar, Lal Ded Area, Jawahar Nagar, Kursoo Rajbagh and other adjoining areas and booked butchers, restaurant owners, fruit and vegetable vendors, chemists and druggists besides other erring shopkeepers.
A fine of Rs 9000 was recovered from the errant shopkeepers by FCS&CA and LMD after they were found failing to maintain the quality of food items, putting on rate list of all essential commodities, expiry of products, illegal and excess profiteering and sale of underweight products.
