Noted pediatrician Dr Daljit dies at 79, DAK holds condolence meet in Srinagar

Srinagar: Noted pediatrician of the Kashmir valley Dr Daljit Singh died in a hospital at Jammu on Friday, Doctor Association Kashmir (DAK) said here.
He was 79.
According to DAK a condolence meeting at Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar to mourn the sad demise of noted pediatrician Dr Daljit Singh.
He was operated 20 days back at Artemis Hospital Gurgaon for brain tumor and was shifted to Naryana Hospital Jammu where he breathed his last today at 1100 hrs.
Paying rich tributes to the deceased, DAK President Dr Nisar ul Hassan prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and expressed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
Saddened over the death, DAK President said it is a great loss to the medical fraternity and his death has resulted in a great void in the field of medicine.
“Born in Dardapora Kreeri area of Baramulla, Dr Daljit was a man of impeccable integrity,” he said.
“A medical luminary, Dr Daljit graduated from Indore Medical College and after completing his post graduation joined GMC Srinagar and became Professor of Pediatrics,” Dr Nisar said.
“He underwent fellowship in neonatology at United Kingdom and established the department of neonatology at Pediatric hospital. He was instrumental in shaping the neonatal care services in Kashmir Valley,” Dr Nisar stated.
“His commitment to the welfare of people of the state was commendable. He rendered his services to the people of the state at a time when many doctors left them to fend for themselves,” Dr Nisar said.
“His contributions in the field of pediatrics will be remembered for all times to come. He was a compassionate and empathetic doctor because of which he was very popular among patients. He will be sorely remembered by everyone whose lives he touched,” Dr Nisar further said.
