Air traffic resumes at Srinagar airport, airlines’ to operate additional flights

Srinagar: Air traffic at Srinagar International Airport was on Friday resumed after remaining suspended for a day on Thursday due to fresh snowfall and poor visibility.
Meanwhile, several airline companies, in addition to schedules flights, will operate additional flights from Srinagar airport to facilitate stranded passengers on Friday.
“After the improvement in the weather we have resumed air traffic at the airport since late Friday morning,” an official of the airport told UNI.
However, he said most of the flights were delayed by an average of about half-an-hour due to bad weather in the morning at the only airport in the valley.
“For convenience of their passengers Spice Jet and Vistara airlines have planned additional flights from Srinagar in addition to their scheduled flights to accommodate more passengers,” he said.
He said IndiGo will also operate two additional flights from Srinagar to facilitate stranded passengers in addition to Scheduled Departures.
On Thursday, as many as 18 flights were cancelled at Srinagar airport due to snowfall and poor visibility. Air traffic was suspended five time at Srinagar airport in January due to bad weather.
