Div Com(J) reviews R-Day arrangements

Jammu: Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma Saturday convened a meeting with officers to review the arrangements being put in place for ensuing Republic Day celebrations.

Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, SSP Jammu, Tejinder Singh, SSP Traffic Joginder Singh, Chief Engineer R&B, Sudheer Shah, Joint Director Information Naresh Kumar, Deputy Director Hospitality and Protocol, A K Koul and senior officers from, Army, BSF, PHE, PDD, Health Services and other allied departments attended the meeting.

Divisional commissioner took a comprehensive review of arrangements being made and stressed on better synergy between the concerned departments for the smooth conduct of the National event.

He was apprised about the Security, traffic management plan and parking arrangements and the concerned officers were directed to put in place requisite arrangements for security and hassle free traffic movement. He asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation to ensure sanitation/cleanliness of the venue besides establishment of sufficient number of mobile toilets. Youth Services and Sports Department was directed to ensure proper transportation and logistics facilities for the participating contingents including school children.

Chief Engineer R&B apprised the Div Com that all necessary steps are being undertaken to uplift and face-lifting the venue. Divisional Commissioner exhorted upon all agencies to ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place well in time for smooth and successful celebration of the Republic Day.

Similarly, PHE and PDD Departments were asked to ensure availability of safe drinking water and uninterrupted power supply. Health and Fire Services was directed to make available sufficient number of Ambulances and Fire Tenders at the venue.  PHE was also asked to provide sufficient pipes for barricades.

Various issues like Display of weapons, tableau and sitting arrangements were discussed during the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Div com asked the concerned departments to visit the venue and finalize the remaining arrangements well in time.
