Shutdown hits normal life in Valley
Srinagar: Normal life was hit in Kashmir on Sunday due to a protest shutdown called by the joint resistance leadership against the killing of an elderly man in firing by government forces in Kupwara on April 27.
All the shops in Lal Chowk remained closed while public transport remained off the
Reports of shutdown were received from all the district headquarters of the valley.
Reports said that forces have been deployed in strength in some parts of Sopore town in north Kashmir, including the Main chowk, Main bazaar, Batpora crossing, Tehsil road and Chankhan to prevent protests against the killing of Mohammad Yousuf Bhat.
Bhat died after forces opened fire on demonstrators demanding the bodies of two militants who were killed after launching a Fidayeen attack on an army camp in Panzgam village of Kupwara.
