Kargil: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Vikas Kundal Wednesday appreciated the role of the officers and officials of the District Administration Kargil for their significant role in the rescue operation on November 18 at Zojila as well as in facilitating the stranded passengers.
The DC has lauded the efforts of the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and his team of officers, District Disaster Management Officer and Headquarter Assistant to DC Kargil Muhammad Shabir and other concerned officers for their notable contribution in the provision of timely and immediate boarding, lodging and other necessary facilities to the stranded passengers at Kargil, Drass and other locations.
The drivers of District Motor Garages Kargil were also extolled for their exemplary courage and fortitude in facilitating the movement of vehicles despite tough and hostile climatic conditions at Zojila.
Meanwhile, the rescue operation on November 18 at Zojila was monitored and supervised by the Deputy Commissioner who is also the Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority. The operation was coordinated by Disaster Management Officer and Headquarter Assistant to DC Kargil.
Pertinently, under the overall supervision of the Deputy Commissioner, District Administration Kargil has been providing free shelter and food to the stranded passengers at Drass for the past several days now.
Warm blankets, jackets, socks and other clothing material have also been distributed among the needy passengers during closure of the Kargil Srinagar Road.
