Srinagar : Three militants were on Thursday killed in a cross LoC attempt in Uri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district and two more militants were on Friday killed in a brief exchange of fire in the outskirts of Baramulla town. In the late evening hours on Friday a woman was killed in cross fire following a militant attack on an army camp in Shadimarg area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A defence spokesperson said three suspected militants were on Thursday killed in a gunfight along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday this week , adding that “they were shot dead while trying to cross the line of control in Uri sector of Baramulla district”.
“On Thursday morning, a search party of the Army’s 5 Grenadiers came across a group of militants at Torna Post in the forests of Boniyar, according to reports. After being intercepted, the militants opened fire, triggering a gunfight, which continued intermittently till 12.30 pm,” said the officer. The identity of the dead militants was not immediately known. Four AK-47 and four haversacks were seized as well, he said.
In a separate incident, two suspected militants were killed in a brief encounter in Kralhaar area in the outskirts of Baramulla town near the local railway station. Officials said an assault rifle,two Chinese pistols and other weapons were recovered from the possession of slain militants .Director General of Police Dilbag Singh said one of the suspected militants tried to shoot at the police and Central Reserve Police Force personnel at a checkpost. Another suspect, who tried to escape, was killed, he said.
Meanwhile a woman was killed in a cross fire incident in Shadimarg area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Confirming the killing of woman Police said a woman was killed in cross fire following a militant attack on an army camp in Shadimarg area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A police official said that the militants fired a UBGL grenade at the army camp of 44 RR in Shadimarg village of Pulwama around 7:10 pm. The blast, he said, was followed by intense firing. The soldiers immediately retaliated the fire, the official said, adding that in the exchange of fire a woman got injured.
The woman, identified as Firdousa wife of Khursheed Ahmad Sheikh, according to the official, was shifted to Rajpora hospital from where she was sent to a Pulwama hospital where she succumbed.
Ab Rashid Parray, Medical Superintendent district hospital Pulwama, however, said that the woman was declared dead on arrival. Meanwhile, the government forces have cordoned off the whole area to nab the militants.
