AMU students seek JK Guv’s intervention for withdrawal of cases against 2 Kashmiri students

Srinagar: Pushed to the wall after the suspension of two of their colleagues, the panicked 1200 Kashmiri students have sought the intervention of Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik for withdrawal of cases against two of their colleagues and threatened to return to their homes if the university authorities don’t revoke the orders of suspension and slapping of sedition charges on two Kashmiri students by or before 17th October when the birth anniversary of university founder late Sir Syed Ahmad Khan is being celebrated in the university.
Local news gathering agency KNS quoted AMU students as saying over telephone from Aligarh “we are firm on our stand that 1200 students from Jammu and Kashmir at AMU will return to Kashmir in case sedition charges are not withdrawn and suspension orders are not revoked. We will meet the alumni of AMU visiting the university to commemorate the birth anniversary of university founder late Sir Syed Ahmad Khan on October 16 and narrate to them our story of fear and harassment. We are feeling insecure and targeted. We are victimized foe being Kashmiris. We reiterate that no law and order problem was created by Kashmiri students at AMU and all the charges leveled against us are politically motivated and concocted.”
Appealing Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik to take cognizance of the fake charges leveled against Kashmiri students at AMU, the Kashmiri students urged the Governor Satya Pal Malik to get the suspension revoked and cases withdrawn. The Governor must make arrangements for safety and security of Kashmiri students leaving AMU on October 17 in case the sedition charges are not withdrawn. They also appealed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejrival to make security arrangements for their safe return to Kashmir.
