Kulgam: National Conference on Sunday reiterated its resolve to protect and safeguard states special status and defeat the forces hell-bent to divide state on regional and religious lines.

Addressing the Party’s monthly South Zone Committee Meeting at Chawalgam Kulgam, the NC South Zone President Dr Bashir Veeri said, “Mehbooba Mufti led government was neither interested nor prepared to challenge the petition on Art 35 A at SC instead they were more interested in issuing rhetorical statements. Now everyone is ready to fight for its continuance and their machinations to subvert states special status stand exposed.”
The meeting was attended and also addressed by Party Legislators and Senior Leaders including NC vice Provincial President Dr S Shafi, MLA Homshalibugh and District President Kulgam Ab Majeed Bhat, MLC and District President Shopian, Showkat Hussain, Senior Leaders G N Ratanpuri, Ab Kabir Pathan, Provincial Spokesperson and In charge JKNC Kulgam Imran Nabi Dar, VP South Zone Shabir Kullay, Zone Secretary Ab Rehman Tantray, Abdul Rahim Rather, YNC South Zone Secretary Ishtiyaq Ah Ganaie, YNC DP Pulwama Javed Rahim Bhat in addition to Block Presidents and members of the District Committees.
“In 2015, our legislators protested vociferously in the state Assembly against PDP BJP governments inability to challenge the petition in the SC. They had no idea and feigned ignorance. Upon our persistent protests inside the assembly and the subsequent protests by our cadre across the state, then governmwnt was forced to start legal proceedings to protect Art 35 A in the SC,” he said.
“National Conference has always fought against divisive forces working to weaken and subvert people’s rights. We will continue to fight with the same spirit and will fight these forces tooth and nail,” the south zone President said.
The NC South Zone President took a detailed review of organizational activities in the zone and asked the party cadre to start a public outreach programme. Later party legislators and leaders gave detailed feedback of their respective areas and suggested measures to strengthen party at grass root level. (KNS)
