Efforts on to upgrade healthcare facilities in JK: Manyal

Srinagar: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Dr Davinder Kumar Manyal Monday said present Government is committed to provide better healthcare facilities to people at their doorsteps with emphasis on rural and remote areas.

He said the Centre has already raised the level of funding for the health sector in Jammu and Kashmir in cooperation with the State government, keeping in mind the objective of providing quality medical services and facilities to people living in the remote and small towns of the State.

The Minister was speaking while inaugurating an Ultrasound Unit at Primary Health Centre, Nud Samba. He directed officials from Health Department for mass awareness of various health care schemes so that people can avail maximum benefits.

He also added that the various health care projects are under implementation in the State “Our Chief Minister is also committed in providing quality healthcare not only in primary but also in all secondary and tertiary hospitals.”

Later, the Minister also inaugurated Rashtriya Bal SwasthyaKarya Karam (RBSK) at Government Higher Secondary School, Nud.

On the occasion, Minister said the main objective of the RBSK scheme is to provide health protection to the poor families from the financial liabilities arising out of health ailment that involve hospitalization and other expenses. He also called for immediate measures for the speedy implementation of various healthcare schemes to give succour to the poor people.

Mission Director, National Health Mission, NHM, Dr. Yashpal Sharma speaking on the occasion said their department organised 22 camps under RBSK across the State. He also added that various teams of doctors were deputed time and again for a free checkup and free distribution of medicine.

Director Family Welfare, Dr. Samir Mattoo, MD, NHM, Dr. Yashpal Sharma, CMO Samba, doctors, para-medical staff, students and the general public were present on the occasion.
