Tral: Thousands of people on Tuesday morning participated in the funeral prayers of slain Hizb militant, Mushtaq Chopan in Tral village.
At least four back to back funerals were held to accommodate the huge rush of mourners who had turned up at Mushtaq’s native Wagad village. He was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard near Baba Dawood Khaki’s shrine amid cries and sobs.
Mushtaq died in a grenade attack near police station Tral on Monday afternoon.Police has ordered a magestrial inquiry and internal investigation into the incident.
Witnesses said thousands of people from Aripal, Tral and adjoining villages participated in the funeral of Mushtaq amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
They said ‘taranas’ were broadcast over the public address systems during the funeral.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in Tral and Aripal townships against his killing.
All shops and business establishments remained closed while traffic was off the roads.
Contingents of police and paramilitary troopers are deployed on various roads in Tral and Aripal areas to maintain law and order, an official said
