Ahead of polling in Srinagar LS seat, frisking, searches back in capital city

Srinagar/April 5:  With just four days left for polling in Srinagar Parliamentary constituency on April 9, frisking and search operations are back in the summer capital, Srinagar, where militants attacked security forces at three different places in as many days leaving two jawans dead and over a dozen injured.
The separatist organizations have already issued a poll boycott call and militant activities have also witnessed increase during the past fortnight in the valley, particularly in summer capital, Srinagar and south Kashmir, where polling in Anantnag parliamentary seat will be held on April 12.
However, different security agencies, particularly Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir police too have also intensified their patrolling and checking to foil any militant attempt to smuggle in arms and ammunition in poll areas.
Security forces have put up naka checking at several places in the city and outskirts, checking vehicles and frisking travelers entering civil lines.
A naka checking was established at Rammunshi Bagh and all vehicles entering the city through high security zone Sonawar and Gupkar road were being searched properly and those travelling in them were being frisked and their identity cards checked before allowing them to go.
We have orders to check vehicles before allowing them to enter the city, security force official said adding that they donot want to take any chance.
Similarly another naka was established on Moulana Azad road near Pologround crossing, where passenger and other vehicles besides two wheelers were being stopped and properly searched. Passengers were being allowed to go only after checking their identity cards.
Additional security forces and state police personnel remained deployed on both sides of roads in the city to maintain law and order and prevent any attempt by militants to smuggle arms and ammunition into city.
Security forces were also seen conducting similar checking at Batmaloo and other places in the city.
Militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) attacked security forces at three different places—Pantha Chowk, Bemina and down town city during which a policeman and a CRPF jawan were killed and over a dozen others were injured recently.
