The meeting was attended by the Additional Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Heads of Departments of Psychiatry from GMC Jammu and GMC Srinagar; and the Programme Management Unit for Mental Health, NHM J&K.

The discussion focused on expediting the formation of the authority for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir in accordance with the provisions of the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017.

During the meeting, the Mission Director led comprehensive deliberations on the statutory requirements, institutional framework, and operational modalities necessary for constituting and functionalizing the UT Level Mental Health Authority.

Discussions centered on strengthening the regulatory mechanism for mental healthcare services, ensuring the strict implementation of the Mental Healthcare Act, safeguarding the rights of persons with mental illness, and fostering seamless coordination among all concerned departments and stakeholders.
