Shopian : Police on Thursday seized five vehicles, including dumpers, a tipper, and tractors, involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals across the district.
In a statement issued here on Thursday police said that a party from Police Post Berthipora intercepted two dumpers and one tipper transporting minerals without valid royalty documents following which a case under FIR No. 112/2026 was registered at Police Station Keller. In a separate action, a police party from Police Post Keegam intercepted and seized two tractors involved in illegal extraction without mandatory permission following which a case under FIR No. 230/2026 was registered at Police Station Shopian. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to protect natural resources and warned strict legal action against those involved in illegal mining.
