Awantipora : Police on Thursday seized five vehicles, including a JCB, a tipper, and three dumpers, involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Awantipora and Baramulla.
In a statement issued here on Thursday Police said that a team in Awantipora intercepted illegal mining along the Jhelum Bund at Reshipora Ullar, seizing a JCB operated by Manzoor Ahmad Choupan S/O Gh. Hassan R/O Malpora and a tipper driven by Ishfaq Ahmad Wani S/O Mushtaq Ahmad Wani R/O Turka Tashloo Kulgam. A case under FIR No. 255/2026 has been registered at Police Station Awantipora. In Baramulla, police intercepted and seized three dumpers carrying illegally extracted stones and bajri at a checkpoint in Chandoosa under the MMDR Act.
