Rural communities sensitized about communicable, non-communicable diseases and preventive healthcare
Ganderbal : The Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) on Friday organised awareness programmes on communicable and non-communicable diseases at Wakura and Safapora blocks of Ganderbal district to promote health awareness among rural communities.
The programmes were organised on the directions of Mission Director JKRLM, Dr Shubhra Sharma, with a focus on utilising the mission’s extensive network of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to disseminate health-related information at the grassroots level.
At the Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU), Wakura, Dr Misbah Qureshi from Primary Health Centre (PHC) Zazna sensitised participants about the causes, symptoms and preventive measures associated with communicable and non-communicable diseases. She also highlighted the importance of early detection, timely diagnosis and appropriate healthcare practices.
Speaking on the occasion, Block Programme Manager JKRLM Wakura, Madina Bukhari, said the information shared during the programme would be disseminated among SHG members through the block’s social capital network.
She said similar awareness programmes would be organised across all Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) at the block level in accordance with the directions of the Mission Director.
A similar programme was also organised at CD Block Safapora in collaboration with Nokia Smartpur Centre, implemented by REACHA Foundation.
The initiative aims to strengthen community-level health awareness by using JKRLM’s institutional network to promote preventive healthcare and encourage informed health practices among rural households.
