New Delhi | October, 10: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated on Saturday that Operation Sindoor highlighted the vital importance of operational preparedness, integrated planning, and precision in modern warfare, emphasizing the need to strengthen India’s defense capabilities against evolving security challenges.
Addressing participants of Exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 at Air Force Station Jodhpur, Singh noted that future military power would depend heavily on the speed of detecting threats, understanding situations, making decisions, and acting. “Future military power will be defined less by the number of platforms we possess. It will be determined by the speed of sensing, understanding, deciding, and acting,” he said.
Sources said the operation demonstrated the Indian Air Force’s ability to conduct precise, calibrated, and effective operations for national security. “The operation underlined the importance of credible deterrence and the effective application of air power in a complex security environment,” Singh added, pointing out that modern warfare is expanding into space, cyber, the electromagnetic spectrum, and the information domain.
Stressing self-reliance, the Defence Minister asserted that India must develop indigenous capabilities to design, manufacture, maintain, and upgrade critical defense technologies. He highlighted homegrown systems such as the Tejas fighter aircraft, Akash air defence system, and helicopters including Dhruv, Rudra, and Prachand, alongside the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft programme for fifth-generation stealth technology. Describing the spirit of the multinational exercise, he concluded, “Different nations. Different aircraft. Different experiences. But one sky. That is the message of Tarang Shakti.”
