Srinagar : Vocational Trainers continued their peaceful protest for the third consecutive day at Floriculture Park near Sher-i-Kashmir Park, demanding a regular job policy, better service conditions and an end to the outsourcing system in vocational education.
The trainers said they were seeking implementation of recommendations which, according to them, have already been submitted by the Directors of School Education regarding the removal of the outsourcing system. They also demanded formulation of a proper job policy, saying it would provide greater stability and security to vocational trainers working in the education sector. “We have been teaching students since 2016, often in remote schools, but even today we have no job policy, no service rules and no assurance about our future,” a protesting vocational trainer said.
Another trainer claimed that several colleagues had crossed the age limit for applying for other government jobs.
“Many of us have crossed the age limit for other government jobs. This profession is our only source of livelihood, yet it feels as though an axe is hanging over our heads every day,” the trainer said.
The protesters claimed that their demands have already been supported through recommendations submitted by the concerned Directors of School Education. They urged the authorities to examine the recommendations and take necessary steps to address the issue.The trainers also appealed to public representatives and other stakeholders to raise the matter at the appropriate forum.
They said intervention by the concerned authorities could help address their concerns and provide relief to hundreds of vocational trainers and their families.
