Baramulla : Police on Wednesday said that it has seized 18 vehicles vehicles during surprise checks in Baramulla and Shopian districts.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that Boniyar Police fine-assessed nine vehicles and seized five under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act for various traffic infractions. Additionally, Police Station Bijhama intercepted two dumpers (JK05M-2847 and JK05K-5687) carrying gypsum, which were subsequently penalized by the Mining Department. Police also seized a tractor (JK05Q-6043) operating without valid royalty documents under the MMDR Act, a sand extraction motor in Jahama, and 11 commercial vehicles (five dumpers and six tippers) in Mirgund plying without statutory documents. Meanwhile, Shopian Police registered cases under FIR No. 195/2026 and FIR No. 193/2026 after seizing one JCB and six tractors involved in illegal mineral extraction and transport.
