Bandipora, September 16: The District Administration Bandipora organised a “Maa Se Guftagu” programme at Bonakoot under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), focusing on the role of mothers and families in preventing drug abuse among children and youth.
The programme stressed the importance of regular communication between parents and children, early identification of warning signs of substance abuse, and involving young people in positive activities such as sports.
Superintendent Engineer, Hydraulic Circle Bandipora, Amreen Anjum, attended the programme along with the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Bandipora, supervisors, Anganwadi workers and helpers.
Speaking during the programme, Amreen Anjum urged mothers to spend quality time with their children and maintain open and friendly communication with them. She also highlighted the need to notice changes in children’s behaviour and peer groups that could indicate possible substance abuse.
The participants were also sensitised about the importance of providing counselling, care and rehabilitation to people affected by addiction. The programme stressed that individuals struggling with addiction should be supported and not socially isolated.
The programme concluded with an appeal for continued community participation and cooperation to strengthen the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and work towards a drug-free Bandipora.
