Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan, 2026 Assessment Released
Srinagar | September, 14: Jammu has improved its standing in the Centre’s 2026 Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan rankings, climbing to 20th position among medium-sized cities, while Srinagar slipped to 26th rank among cities with populations over 10 lakh. Reports said Jammu’s score rose to 176.5, with three municipal wards receiving state-level recognition. Conversely, Srinagar’s score dropped to 162.6 despite substantial Smart City infrastructure investments.
While Srinagar implemented electric buses, road sprinkling, and riverfront developments, officials acknowledged lingering challenges in solid waste processing, construction dust, and vehicular emissions. Lucknow topped the large cities category nationwide, while Rourkela led the medium-population category.
