IGP Kashmir Reviews Security, Counter-Terror Operations in Pulwama, Awantipora

IGP Kashmir chairs security review meeting at PCR Kashmir ahead of forthcoming International Film Festival

Srinagar |Sept, 06:Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar on Sunday reviewed the security situation, counter-terror operations and law-and-order arrangements in Pulwama and Police District Awantipora.
Accompanied by DIG South Kashmir Range Javed Iqbal Mattoo, the IGP chaired separate high-level meetings with senior police officers to assess security preparedness, ongoing counter-terror operations, crime disposal and the overall law-and-order situation.
Senior Superintendents of Police, Additional SPs, SDPOs and DySPs of the Special Operations Group briefed the IGP on operational readiness, crime trends and strategic deployments.
During the meetings, Kumar directed officers to maintain focus on kinetic and non-kinetic counter-terror operations, strengthen intelligence gathering and ensure close coordination among security agencies. He also stressed proactive and preventive policing.
Directions were issued to intensify surveillance, secure vital installations and strengthen security around vulnerable areas and protected persons.
The IGP also directed officers to maintain a zero-tolerance approach towards narcotics and illicit networks and intensify action against drug abuse and repeat offenders.
Emphasising community-oriented policing, Kumar called for prompt redressal of public grievances and greater engagement with citizens to strengthen public trust.
He appreciated the professionalism and alertness of police personnel and urged all ranks to remain disciplined and prepared to respond to emerging security challenges.
