Police Announces Memorial Tournaments To Engender Youth Discipline

Srinagar | October, 29: Asserting that sacrifices continue to inspire efforts of Jammu and Kashmir Police to maintain peace and security, Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat said the force remains committed to mentoring the younger generation and addressing social evils.
Addressing the closing ceremony of ‘Pedal Through Paradise 2026’ at the Police Golf Course, Dal Lake, DGP Prabhat paid rich tributes to 1621 police martyrs and announced ‘Martyrs Memorial’ football and hockey tournaments in their honor. “Youth is an asset and the future of the nation. Their aspirations and participation in productive activities are important for the overall progress of society and the country’s economic development,” he stated.
The DGP highlighted that sports provide young people with an opportunity to develop discipline, fitness, and responsibility, adding that increased sporting activity is a prerequisite for a healthy and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir. He noted that cycling helps instill discipline while offering a productive counter to excessive mobile phone use and screen addiction affecting society.
Officials said the police, in coordination with the administration, have been organizing sports events at the district level to encourage wider youth involvement. Referring to recent engagements like the Kashmir Marathon and ‘Jashn-e-Dal’, the DGP affirmed that upcoming calendar events would continue to honor fallen personnel while guiding youth toward healthy habits.
