Baramulla | Sept,5 : A leopard attack in Boniyar and a violent thunderstorm in Gulmarg resulted in the loss of over 60 livestock across north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Officials said six sheep were killed overnight at Barnate in Boniyar after a leopard invaded a livestock enclosure, prompting an immediate assessment by the Wildlife Department. Local residents expressed deep concern over the predator’s presence, highlighting that a residential area and a school housing over 300 students are situated just metres from the attack site. “We are worried about the safety of our children and families,” residents said, urging authorities to capture the animal immediately. Meanwhile, a sudden thunderstorm struck the high-altitude Karaknaar area in Gulmarg during the afternoon, killing dozens of sheep on the spot while they were grazing in the hills.
