Says” Current Tourist Rush Doesn’t Justify Curbs, Asks Officials To Review Decision”
Tangmarg: Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Gulmarg Farooq Ahmed Shah has said that the recently announced odd-even traffic regulation for Gulmarg is not immediately necessary due to the current low tourist footfall.
Talking to reporters after laying the foundation stone of a clock tower in Tangmarg, he said that the existing visitor numbers do not justify such restrictions and has requested officials to reassess the order. Shah said that while the implementation of traffic regulations could be revisited if tourist numbers rise significantly in the future, the current focus should be on ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for visitors. He highlighted the importance of making tourists feel welcomed and valued, aiming to encourage repeat visits to the destination. The Gulmarg Development Authority had previously proposed the odd-even vehicle entry system as a pilot initiative to alleviate congestion and enhance environmental conditions in the area from July 5 to August 5.
