Srinagar : The Cultural Unit Kashmir of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) organised awareness programmes under the NashaMukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan (NMJKA) at Government High School ( Brane and Government High School Dalgate on Thursday.

The programmes witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who took part in speech competitions highlighting the devastating effects of drug abuse on individuals, families, and society. The speakers stressed the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle and staying away from substance abuse.

Speaking on the occasion, Cultural Officer, Abdul Raqib Bhat and  AECO, Syed Shakeel Shan emphasised the crucial role of parents in preventing drug abuse. They urged parents to maintain close supervision over their children, keep a vigilant watch on their activities, and remain particularly alert in vulnerable areas to protect them from the menace of drugs.

The headmasters of both schools also addressed the students, advising them to stay away from drug abuse and focus on their education and overall development. They appreciated the Department of Information and Public Relations for organising the awareness programmes and thanked the department for its sustained efforts to spread awareness against the growing menace of drug addiction among the youth.

The programmes concluded with a renewed pledge by students and teachers to work collectively towards building a drug-free society.
