Srinagar: Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, Tuesday visited Neegoo Brenwar, Chadoora, the site of a recent fatal accident, to assess the situation and extend heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
During the visit, the Speaker met the bereaved families and conveyed his sympathies, assuring them of all possible support from the government during this difficult time.
Speaking to the media and local residents, Rather stated that the government has already constituted an investigation committee to probe into the circumstances leading to the accident. He informed that the committee comprising the engineers and technical experts have been tasked not only with conducting a thorough inquiry but also with recommending measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
“The government would identify the cause of the accident and implement necessary corrective measures to ensure safety of the public,” he said.
The Speaker also interacted with the local residents, who highlighted the poor condition of the road in the area and raised concerns regarding the road safety and infrastructure.
Inspecting the dilapidated condition of the road, Rather acknowledged the grievances of the people and assured them that the road would be developed and improved. He emphasized that necessary steps would be taken to strengthen the road infrastructure and enhance safety standards for the commuters.
