New Delhi :Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper and welcomed the growing momentum in India-United Kingdom relations, emphasizing that the expanding partnership between the two countries has opened up significant opportunities for economic growth and cooperation.
In a post on social media platform X following the meeting, Modi noted the steady progress in bilateral ties and reiterated the importance of the long-term vision guiding engagement between New Delhi and London.
“Pleased to meet UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper. Appreciated the deepening of the India-UK partnership in recent times that has unlocked unprecedented growth opportunities for both our countries,” the Prime Minister said.
Modi also highlighted the role of the India-UK Vision 2035 roadmap in shaping future cooperation and strengthening collaboration on global issues. “India-UK Vision 2035 will continue to guide our partnership and strengthen our joint efforts for global good,” he added.
The meeting took place against the backdrop of expanding India-UK engagement across a range of sectors, including trade, investment, technology, innovation, education, defence, climate action and people-to-people exchanges. Over the past several years, both countries have sought to deepen their strategic partnership while enhancing economic and commercial cooperation.
India and the United Kingdom have anchored their relationship in the India-UK Vision 2035 framework, a comprehensive roadmap that outlines collaboration in areas such as trade and prosperity, defence and security, climate and health, migration and mobility, and multilateral cooperation. The framework aims to leverage the strengths of both democracies to drive innovation, economic growth and shared global objectives.
The interaction between Modi and Cooper underscored the continued high-level engagement between India and the United Kingdom as both sides work to advance the goals of the Vision 2035 partnership and further broaden bilateral cooperation across key sectors.
