Jammu : As part of the ongoing NashaMukt Abhiyan – Naari Shakti Initiative, School of Nursing and Biomedical Sciences, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri organized a seminar on the theme “Preventing Addiction Through Nutrition, Education and Empowerment” to spread awareness regarding substance abuse prevention and promote healthy lifestyle practices among youth.
Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, Vice Chancellor of BGSBU, lauded the School of Nursing and Biomedical Sciences for its seminar organized under the NashaMukt Abhiyan – Naari Shakti Initiative, emphasizing the importance of empowering youth through nutrition, education, and awareness to combat addiction. He acknowledged the efforts of Prof. Titi Xavier, Dean of the School, and the faculty, research scholars, and students for their commitment to fostering a drug-free society. The seminar, led by Prof. Titi Xavier, was conducted by the Centre for Hospitality and Tourism and highlighted the critical roles of nutrition, education, empowerment, and life skills in addiction prevention. The event included a pledge ceremony and an interactive session that encouraged active participation from attendees. Key contributors to the program included Dr. Radha Gupta, Dr. Mamta Choudhary, Hassena Kouser, Hassina Jamiel, and Ishrat Fatima, who played significant roles in its successful execution. Additionally, the College of Nursing Rajouri hosted a debate on “Empowered Women Create Addiction-Free Communities,” coordinated by Ms. Vijayasree V Nair. The program concluded successfully, showcasing enthusiastic involvement from both students and faculty. The various activities under the NashaMukt Abhiyan – Naari Shakti Initiative underscored the necessity of collective efforts in education, empowerment, and awareness to prevent substance abuse and promote a healthy, addiction-free environment for youth.
