Anti-drug awareness programme conducted in Sopore

Srinagar :  Police in Pulwama have intensified their efforts against drug-related issues through a combination of enforcement and community engagement.

A series of focused activities were conducted across the district, including an anti-drug awareness program in Sopore. The Rajpora Police Station executed thorough house searches targeting suspected drug peddlers to disrupt local drug networks. In a proactive approach to combat illegal cultivation, police identified and destroyed poppy straw plants found alongside vegetable crops belonging to a local resident, Mohd Hussain Mir. Preventive legal measures were initiated in this case. Additionally, wild bhang plants were eradicated in Nikas with the support of community members, highlighting the increasing public involvement in the anti-drug initiative. On the educational front, Pulwama Police organized an anti-drug awareness program at Government Middle School Gulshanaabad Rajpora, focusing on the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of avoiding narcotics. Furthermore, a drug awareness program was held by Evergreen Computer Institute Wanpora under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, where participants learned about the social, legal, and psychological impacts of substance abuse and the necessity of fostering a drug-free society. In Sopore, an anti-drug awareness initiative was conducted in collaboration with the Chemists & Druggists Associations as part of the 100 Day Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyaan, aimed at preventing the misuse of psychotropic substances and enhancing community vigilance.
