Srinagar : A one-day meeting of the Working Committee of Jammu & Kashmir National Conference was on Thursday convened at the party headquarters and chaired by Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah. Key attendees included Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, General Secretary Haji Ali Mohammad Sagar, and other prominent party leaders. The meeting focused on the political and administrative landscape of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, addressing public grievances such as economic distress and unemployment.
Speaking on the occasion the Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah emphasized the importance of maintaining grassroots connections and urged committee members to prioritize public service over personal interests. He highlighted the party’s historical resilience in the face of challenges, asserting that the National Conference remains steadfast due to its strong public support. He called for an immediate launch of a membership drive and the completion of organizational elections, advocating for the selection of genuine grassroots representatives. The need for district-level party conventions was stressed to better understand and address public grievances. Dr. Farooq also pointed out the necessity of effectively communicating the government’s development efforts and public welfare initiatives to the populace. He acknowledged ongoing attempts to hinder development in Jammu & Kashmir but assured that the National Conference would confront these challenges with determination. Additionally, he directed party leaders to raise public awareness about the census and its significance, ensuring that the membership campaign is complemented by educational efforts regarding this issue. The meeting also saw participation from representatives of various wings, including minority, women’s, trade union, and youth groups, reflecting a comprehensive approach to addressing the diverse needs of the community.
