Theft Case solved in Awantipora, Two Arrested: Police

Awantipora : Police on Friday said that it has solved a theft case in Awantipora  and  also arrested two accused persons involved in the crime.

In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that on April 2, 2026, Nazir Ahmad Bhat, S/O Gh. Mohammad R/O  Noorpora, lodged a written complaint stating therein  that during the intervening night of April 1–2, unknown burglars broke into a temporary shed in his apple orchard at Watsser and stole two motors. Following the complaint, FIR No. 78/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Awantipora, and investigation was initiated.

During the investigation, a police team led by the SHO of Police Station Awantipora, using CCTV analysis and other technical means, apprehended two accused — Maqsood Ahmad Lone, S/O  Farooq Ahmad Lone, and Shabir Ahmad Wani, S/O  Ab Rahim Wani, both residents of Check Noorpora. On their disclosure, the stolen motors were recovered from their possession.

Further investigation in the case is underway. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to ensure public safety  and appealed people to share suspicious activities with the nearest police station.
