Srinagar: Northern Command Army Commander Pratik Sharma on Wednesday visited the Jhangar Battalion following the successful conduct of Operation Balliyan, in which alert troops foiled an infiltration attempt.
Officials said the troops effectively eliminated the infiltration bid, demonstrating high levels of vigilance and operational readiness along the Line of Control.
During his visit, the Army Commander reviewed the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness and interacted with officers and forces on the ground.
He commended the troops for their professionalism and resolute commitment towards ensuring peace and stability in the region.
A day earlier, on March 17, Lt Gen Sharma visited various units and formations deployed in the hinterland as part of the counter-terrorism grid in the Kashmir Valley.
Senior commanders briefed him on the current operational dynamics, intelligence inputs, and coordination mechanisms with sister security agencies.
The Army Commander was also briefed at the Joint Control Centre in Budgam on coordinated efforts aimed at maintaining peace and security across the Valley.
He emphasized the importance of synergy among security forces and appreciated the Army’s seamless coordination with other agencies in tackling security challenges.
Lt Gen Sharma also commended the troops for maintaining high morale and readiness, urging them to remain vigilant and continue their efforts to safeguard the region.
