New Delhi : Jammu and Kashmir BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma, CA, raised an important question regarding the establishment of IT Parks in Jammu during the ongoing session of the Rajya Sabha, highlighting the need to promote IT growth and generate employment opportunities for youth in the region.
Responding to the query Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Jitin Prasada apprised the House about Government of India’s ongoing efforts to enhance the IT ecosystem, particularly in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, including Jammu. He highlighted the establishment of 68 Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) centers across the country, with 60 located in smaller cities. Notably, a Software Technology Park has been set up in Jammu at the Export Promotion Industrial Park (EPIP), which offers a range of services including incubation, high-speed data communication, cloud services, and Vulnerability Assessment & Penetration Testing (VAPT). This STPI facility is designed to support the growth of IT and ITeS sectors in the region and plays a crucial role in fostering startups by providing incubation services, mentorship from prestigious institutions like IITs and NITs, and networking opportunities for young professionals. Sat Sharma expressed his support for these initiatives, emphasizing their alignment with national programs such as Digital India and Make in India.
