Institute celebrates 77th Republic Day with patriotic fervour
Srinagar : The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar celebrated the 77th Republic Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit on Monday.
The In-Charge Director Prof. (HAG) Roohi Naaz, who presided over the Republic Day event emphasized the institution’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and national service. The Republic Day parade featured multiple contingents, with the Institute’s Security Wing led by designated Parade Commanders, and the In-Charge Director inspected the march-past. Chairman BOG Dr. Milind Pralhad Kamble highlighted the significance of Republic Day as a reminder of India’s democratic values and the collective responsibility of nation-building. He underscored NIT Srinagar’s role in shaping the future through quality education and innovation, urging collaboration to strengthen India’s knowledge economy. Prof. Roohi Naaz, addressing the gathering on behalf of Director Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, reflected on the historical importance of January 26, 1950, when India adopted its Constitution. She noted the country’s recent advancements in various fields, including technology and social development, and encouraged students to embrace curiosity and ethical values while contributing to sustainable development. Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman reiterated the institution’s responsibility in nurturing knowledge and promoting innovation. He stressed the need for educational institutions to contribute meaningfully to society and uphold values of integrity amidst rapid technological changes. The celebrations concluded with the unfurling of the Tricolour at Fountain Park, attended by administrative officers and security personnel, and a joint participation in the Independence Day celebrations at Bakshi Stadium, where the Deputy Chief Minister hoisted the national flag.
