Rather asks for speedy snow clearance in Charar-i-Sharief, restoration of essential services

Jammu : In view of heavy snowfall in higher regions of Jammu and Kashmir, Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly Abdul Rahim Rather directed the district administration for speedy clearance of snow in his constituency Charar-i-Sharief and its remote areas.
The Speaker drew the attention of administration towards some important roads for snow clearance particularly Nagam-Hayatpora-Dardpora- Mallapora- Tujan- Dalwan – Fotlipora road, Kanidajan- Darwan- Chalyan road, Kanidajan- Branpathri- Nowgam- Batpora road, Waterloo- Sani Darwan- Chuntinar road, Lolipora- Buzgoo- Gogjipathri road and Surasyar – Bonen- Kutbal road.
Similarly, he also asked to clear the snow and restore connectivity on Hanjura – Shumnag- Muqam- Dembal – Hangoo road, Branwar- Negoo- Jabbad road, Kakawring- Chrawani road, Zinpanchal – Fotlipora- Dalwan road, Bugroo- Lanoora – Arampora road, Borwah- Kherigund- Nowhar road, Hayat Pora – Qazipora- Wanpora road, Awanpora – Tangnar road, Dalwan – Shankerpora- Chraripora road besides other link roads.
The Speaker stressed upon the administration to mobilize snow clearance machines and increase operational staff for road clearance to avoid inconvenience to the people. He also directed for restoring the essential services as soon as possible to provide relief to the people of his constituency, who are facing several issues due to heavy snowfall.
The Speaker asserted that immediate focus shall be given on clearing roads leading to hospitals, health centers and emergency services. He also asked the concerned departments to ensure an uninterrupted supply of food grains, restoring power and water supply to affected areas besides maintaining regular, 24/7 communication for updates.
The Speaker, while raising the issue of wind storm before the snowfall in higher regions, asked the administration to send a team of concerned officers for loss assessment and provide immediate relief to the affected families.
He instructed the officials to work on “war footing” basis to restore normalcy in areas heavily impacted by the snowfall.
