Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in South Kashmir’s Shopian and Pulwama districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Monday Police said that In Shopian a police party of police post Wachi during routine checks intercepted a a Swift car with registration No. JK13J-3347, carrying two individuals, Ishfaq Ahmad Koka and Inayat Ahmad Lone, both from Melhura Zainapora. During search approximately 58 grams of a heroin-like substance were seized from the vehicle involved in the crime. In a separate incident in Pulwama, a police party from the Litter police station apprehended a suspect Abdul Rashid Sheikh, at Nikloora and during searches 7.545 kg of charas patri and 450 grams of charas powder were recovered from his possession. Police have registered cases under relevant legal provisions at respective police stations besides initiating investigation. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to establish a drug-free society and appealed people to cooperate in this effort.
