Jammu: Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College, Jammu on Monday commenced the 2 nd phase celebrations of 150 years of the national song “Vande Mataram” with a meaningful and vibrant programme on the college campus, reflecting deep patriotic spirit and national commitment.
The event showcased strong participation from faculty, non-teaching staff, students, NCC cadets, and NSS volunteers, fostering a spirit of national pride. It was organized to educate the youth about the historical, cultural, and emotional significance of Vande Mataram in India’s freedom struggle and nation-building efforts. The program included a collective rendition of Vande Mataram, patriotic songs, and a pledge to uphold the ideals of unity, integrity, and the vision of a developed India. Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of GGM Science College Jammu, emphasized that Vande Mataram represents the essence of India’s freedom movement. He highlighted the crucial role of educational institutions in instilling values of nationalism, constitutional ethos, and collective responsibility among young people. The Principal expressed the college’s commitment to organizing a series of activities, such as lectures, cultural programs, and student-led initiatives, to enhance awareness of India’s freedom struggle and constitutional values. He commended the active involvement of students and faculty in making the inaugural event impactful and meaningful.
