Jammu : Police on Saturday said that it has solved a theft case by arresting an accused for being involved in the commission of crime and also recovered stolen property from his possession in Awantipora.
In a statement issued here on Saturday Police said that a complaint was on January 15 filed at Police Post Toll Plaza by one Nisar Ahmad Khanday regarding the theft of sheep from his cowshed during the night of January 14-15. Following this, an FIR No. 22/2026 was registered at Police Station Awantipora and an investigation is currently underway. A police team led by the Incharge of Police Post Toll Plaza and supervised by the SHO of Police Station Awantipora, utilized modern investigative techniques, including the analysis of CCTV footage from various locations. This approach resulted in the identification and arrest of the suspect, Mohd Khalid Bargat, a resident of Gondhawas Khass, Rajouri. During interrogation, Bargat confessed the crime and subsequently five stolen sheep were recovered . Additionally, the vehicle used in the theft, with registration number JK13G-6966, was seized. The accused is currently in police custody, and further arrests and recoveries are anticipated as the investigation continues. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to conduct prompt investigations for protection of public property.
