G’bal : Central University of Kashmir (CU celebrated on Monday National Youth Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, one of the country’s greatest spiritual leaders and youth icons.
The programme, organized by the Dean, Students’ Welfare (DSW) in collaboration with the Department of Education, took place in a blended format at Tulmulla Campus. Prof. Syed Zahoor Geelani, Dean of the School of Education, delivered the keynote address, focusing on the life and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda. He emphasized Vivekananda’s significant contributions to Indian thought, particularly in Vedanta and Yoga, and highlighted Karma Yoga as a principle of selfless action. Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir, the Registrar, spoke about the importance of universal brotherhood as envisioned by Vivekananda, reflecting on his teachings within the context of India’s multicultural society. He stressed the need for values such as tolerance, patience, harmony, and brotherhood among today’s youth to foster national unity and social cohesion.
